KALEIDOSCOPE of LOVE

There are a lot, I mean a ton, of books, songs, movies, blogs, and so forth on the topic of love, so I do not write this attempting to compete, but to offer a new picture of love.

As a child and into my adult  years, I have often lost myself in the visual art of the kaleidoscope.  The transformation of colors producing a beautiful picture that continually ebbs and flows with just a slight move of the hand is quite mesmerizing; a constant display of color explosion!  

Recently,  I found myself in a store filled with kaleidoscopes that were all shapes and sizes.  One was a music box; it was so inspiring!  Even more amazing than the pictures I viewed was the perspective on love I gained as I reflected on how I cannot love others unless I love myself, but I cannot love myself unless I accept the truth that I can only love because HE, Jesus Christ, first loved me!  (1 John 4:19)

The common elements used in a kaleidoscope include the device that holds everything together, the clear colored pieces, light, mirrors, and movement.  The picture created is the result of all elements being in motion working together.   If just for a moment, we looked at our own lives like a kaleidoscope,  I think we could understand the power of love.  If my body is the device, and my gifts, talents, and experiences represent the colored pieces, the light is the presence of Christ in my life, the Holy Spirit is the moving force that prompts the action, and the mirrors then reflect the outpouring of love.  So, the picture created, like in a kaleidoscope, is the expression of Christ’s love in me … because He first loved me.  Abstract, I know, but a circular picture of the intricate way of how love works.   

If we are vulnerable enough to allow God to use us, and submit to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, which indwells us at the time of our salvation, we will see the love of Christ flow from us toward others in ways we could not begin to fathom.  The ebb and flow of love in constant motion would impact others like the ripple effect of a stone thrown into the water.   We love because HE first loved us!  Period.

In no way do I have this beautiful art mastered, but Christ does!  So, daily,  I must choose to let Him move in and through me, in spite of myself, so that love wins; then love will explode!

My prayer for you is that you will see the kaleidoscope of love you can display when you embrace how much He loves you and allow the Holy Spirit to be an active force in your life!
